TEA WITH THE QUEEN

Jeffrey Campbell Trudee
There's something about Jeffrey Campbell's "Trudee" that transports me half way across the world. Every time I put it on, I envision myself as a member of royalty, having tea with Queen Elizabeth in a parlor of Buckingham Palace.

I love the sweet and romantic air of these shoes; almost reminiscent of a 50's love story. And I am thoroughly enjoying the low heel - perfect for an afternoon walk along the waterfront.

EFFORTLESS COOL

Frye makes boots to perfection in all shapes and sizes, anywhere from the flawless and feminine riding boot Melissa to the quintessential and timeless Frye Harness. But when you’re looking for a Frye with that motorcycle/engineer edge, the Veronica Shortie is your boot.

It’s got everything you need in a black, grunge boot: a mid-calf height, 1-inch heel, engineer straps and antique silver buckles. The Veronica adds attitude to any outfit, so be prepared for the less gutsy to stare in envious intimidation.

For me the Veronica Shorties have become my everyday shoe, my going-out boots, or — given the comfort that only Frye can provide — my walking shoes. No matter what outfit I pair my Veronicas with, they transform it into an effortless cool.

Frye Veronica Shortie
Side note: The Veronica Shortie is NOT only for more tomboy looks. With traditionally feminine clothes, it takes down the girly factor a notch. So now you can wear that favorite dress you were worried was too overdone, and you can wear it everywhere; school, work, dinner-date, etc.

As a girl who enjoys sporting the most feminine frocks, I can tell you, the Veronica is particularly phenomenal when paired with ballerina-skirts, lace and anything that screams lady-likeness!

Here are some funky looks I recommend with this fantastic boot (but feel free to stay basic with the classic jeans and lose sweater feel, it looks awesome too. You really can't go wrong with the Veronica Shortie)!

REINCARNATION

Sam Edelman Lorna
If I died today and came back as a shoe tomorrow, I would want to be the Sam Edelman “Lorna.”

Simply put, it is amazing.

This is the heel that makes you stand up a little straighter, hold your chin a bit higher, and strut your stuff like you’re on the runway at New York Fashion Week.

It’s feminine, classic, and sexy to a fault. And of course, coming from Sam, this heel is made of the most luxurious buttery soft leather it makes my feet sing with joy. I’m also super excited they included one of my favorite colors for this season, pewter.

Pewter rhinestones may be one of the most fantastic things I have ever seen; they’re rich in color and the way the light catches them they sparkle so beautifully. And to add pewter metal spikes as well…ah, these heels are so fantastic I can hardly stand it.

I can’t wait for all of the holiday parties to start so I can take my new BFF Lorna out with me to show it off. I’m still on the hunt for the perfect little navy blue number to go with it, but I have faith that it is out there somewhere.

MARRIAGE PROPOSAL?

Is it possible to be "in love" with a shoe? Because, if it is, I think I want to marry this one.

The All Black "Zig Zag" uses actual Missoni knit material (not the Missoni for Target, the ITALY Missoni) because, to our utter delight, the designer just happens to know the peeps that make Missoni textiles!

I think i'll be wearing it with that darling long sleeved, leopard mini-dress over at J.Crew... what about you?

DATING A ROYAL

Oh Poetic License…their name describes their shoe designs so perfectly. Ever so feminine, sweet, and romantic, “Turkish Delight” might be one of my favorite shoes we have ever received from them.

So many aspects packed into one tiny shoe – a gold tiger-head broche covered in rhinestones, which sits on a faux-fur bed, and a tiger-stripe patterned exterior…it almost made me question if I was cool enough to pull it off. This feeling diminished, however, when I slid my foot into it; I never wanted to take it off again! Instantly I was transformed into someone edgy, stylish, and fierce.

My new favorite go-to, it adds a little pizzazz and sparkle. And an extra little tip: super cute with OPI’s “Dating a Royal” nail polish.

SAN FRAN ESCORT

Before setting eyes on the Miz Mooz "Franka," I never thought a heeled oxford was a wardrobe necessity. Now I can't imagine how I ever lived without it.

This weekend was my first ever trip to San Francisco. Disregarding the five other pairs of shoes I brought, the Franka became my weekend tour guide. Originating in the Big Apple, Miz Mooz is a brand who knows how to do a walking shoe right. With low-to-medium heel and a cushioned footbed, the Franka kept my feet happy through hours of daytime sightseeing and nightlife exploration.

The perfect balance of classic oxford with a trendy lace-up heel, the Franka is as easy to pair with any outfit as simple black flats, yet it leaves me feeling much more hip and unique.

HOLIDAY WITH BETSEY

There are few designers in the industry who can so successfully get away with the ridiculously outrageous and over-the-top designs. Out of this elite group, IMO, not one can even hold a candle to the fabulous Betsey Johnson.

Betsey's "Caseyy," the first holiday shoe to arrive at our store, is no exception.

The bow/rhinestone combination gives off the classic Betsey feminine-rocker-chic vibe, and the bright red color gives it an extra sexy umph that puts a little pep in your step.

This peep-toed heel is the perfect way to add some holiday festivity to any outfit.  It's feminine enough to accompany you to a cocktail party with a great LBD, or sturdy enough to hold it's own with some great skinnies and a blazer.

MY RUNNING SHOES?

It has been a long time since a shoe came my way that evoked a half-giggle, half-gasp, and an ooh-aah all at the same time. Let me introduce you to the Kelsi Dagger “Tildia,” whose look is as unique as its name.

Combining black patent leather with a rusty suede, this heel fills the category of ‘perfect fall shoe.’

The Mary Jane T-strap and bow keep me feeling girly and sweet, but let me tell you, this is the sexiest Mary Jane I have ever encountered.

While the 5” heel makes men stop dead in their tracks, Kelsi Dagger did us girls the favor of including a tall platform in the front, making them unbelievably easy to walk in. (Or, if need be, run…I know, I tried)

THE SEXY, DRAMATIC DARALIS

Has a shoe ever made you feel better just by looking at it?

That's what the Kelsi Dagger "Daralis" sandal does for me. When I pull them out of the box I find myself transported to somewhere tropical, luscious and magical, where life drama's and stresses are not allowed.

This shoe is divine!

Imagine soft, buttery leather caressing your foot with every step. The fashion forward gladiator style is edgy and universally flattering and the peakcock feather is just the splash of color you need to stop traffic.

Kelsi Dagger shoes never seem to disappoint me.

Designers Adoni and Giordano sum it up best when describing the woman inspiring their designs: She is... "Confident, Independent and Dangerous."

Hearing this description you can understand why they named the shoe company after a english literary show girl and femme fatal. Maybe that's why I feel so dramatic and sexy when I slip them on my feet.

MY EUROPE SHOE

Traveling shoes don't have to be painful or unsightly. I'm going on a dream trip to Europe this summer and needed a comfortable fashion forward sandal for my travels. I found it: The Gentle Soles "Break My Heart."

All Gentle Soles are deerskin lined with flaxseed pillows embedded in the foot bed. This combination creates the softest shoe I’ve ever tried on. It’s basically heaven on my feet. And who doesn’t want to walk in Heaven?

They require no break-in time which is perfect for me since I will be on the go non-stop! Throw these babies on with a pair of denim shorts and a cute tank for the day. And when the evening comes leave the shoes on and change into a cute summer dress. They are the most versatile shoe in my closet… who am I kidding they don’t even make it into my closet that’s how much I wear them!

SLIDE INTO THIS FRYE

All I had to do was try it on... I've been wearing it almost every day since.

How does Frye keep doing this to me? They seem to be able to somehow mix casual-cool, with dressy-enough-for-a-date. The best thing about Frye to me though? The more beat up and/or worn they get, the better they look. Can you really say that about many other shoes?

Each time I purchase Frye I wonder how much longer they’ll be able to keep this up. My guess: well, since New England families wore these when heading west in the 1800’s, and it’s the oldest operating shoe company in the US, the Frye brand will likely outlive me.

I love you Frye!

PS: For the perfect fit go 1/2 size down

MY PERFECT SUMMER SHOE

Its like a wedge met an oxford and formed the perfect summer shoe. The color makes me drool, the cork lined sole makes me comfortable, and because I don’t have to tie the laces (just unzip the back and slide in), for me its love at first sight.

Picture it with shorts. Picture it with dresses. Picture it with rolled skinnies. How about flowy tops, or BIG WIDE bellbottom pants, or layered necklaces and boho earrings?

Frolic in the park, walk down the street, go get groceries but be prepared - compliments are coming.

Do you remember Sam Edelman from the 1980’s? He formed the line Sam & Libby, and I owned enough that my husband thought I was an investor. I always wondered what happened to him when I couldn’t find the brand any longer.

Thank you, Mr. Edelman. Thank you for coming back into our lives.

MISS MEERS STYLE: SEYCHELLES SECOND TO NONE

We just received the Seychelles Second to None and our hearts skipped a beat when we tried these on!

Black, strappy, and sporting a 3" cone heel, this little number is beyond versatile. Dressing them up with skirts and dresses is just as easy as wearing them casually with ankle-grazing skinny jeans and a leather jacket. Who doesn't need a shoe like that?!

How about we just let Miss Meers' own Kim, Sam and Grace show you how they rock these Seychelles.

All three girls agree that the Second to None is so easy to match with outfits and love the manageable heel height. Grace suggests styling them with leggings and a big, chunky sweater while the weather is still cooler, and for spring, Sam and Kim recommend pairing them with florals prints, floaty dresses and cuffed chinos. Clearly this shoe has endless possibilities!

FRYE CAN DO NO WRONG

We just received this new Amelia shortie from Frye; this company can do no wrong! For those of you who are unfamiliar with this beloved brand, let us shed some light for you. Frye has been making incredible boots and shoes since 1863 (yes, 1863). In fact, they're the oldest continually operating shoe company in America. Here at Miss Meers we are confessed Frye addicts. So, what is a Frye addict you might ask?Brittnee from our Bridgeport store defines it brilliantly: A Frye addict is "a person who checks out the new arrivals just to smell the leather; who owns at least 5 pairs of Fryes and doesn't plan on making it their last, and who will completely justify the price tag knowing the superior quality that makes Frye, well, Frye."Okay, fine. We're guilty. But can you imagine how cute this shortie would be with some loose, cuffed boyfriend jeans and a big cozy cardigan? Or flowy sundresses for spring? Or leggings and an over-sized t-shirt?! It's not a "problem" when they look so, so, good on your feet, right? Right. We can hardly wait to see what's coming in our next shipment from Frye! Stay tuned...

SEEING SPOTS

Introducing the Seychelles "Bergman." Simply put: this photo does not do this adorable shoe justice. In fact, I'm pretty sure our beloved "Bergman" is getting more attention than Justin Bieber at a mall signing.

By the way, did you know that Miss Meers is one of the few boutiques where you can find the "Bergman"? Seychelles wanted to test this puppy out at specialty boutiques. Until a week ago Miss Meers was the only store in the country to have them. We felt honored.
